java.lang.OutOfMemoryError: PermGen space

Hi
Some times i am getting the  java.lang.OutOfMemoryError: PermGen space error in konakart. Already I setup the DEBUG_OPTS,JAVA_OPTS&CATALINA_OPTS. I pasted the catalina.bat configuration file in below. Also I set also this variable to environment. I need your urgent attention to this post.

It's true that java memory settings are a complicated business..   so dependent on your environment, your platform, your JVM etc...  There is no one solution for all.

Have you experimented with different settings?

I don't know how you're starting your tomcat - have you confirmed you are getting the memory settings that you think you're setting?

Looking at your settings:

-XX:MaxPermSize=512m -XX:ReservedCodeCacheSize=256m -Xms 256m -Xmx 512m -Xss512k

-XX:MaxPermSize=512m                  Seems fine although higher than I normally use
-XX:ReservedCodeCacheSize=256m   I've never used this
-Xms 256m -Xmx 512m                    Fine
-Xss512k                                      I've never set this on Windows


As far as I can tell these look reasonable settings.

Are you running out of memory when you run KonaKart without modifications or is some of your own custom code being run in the same JVM? 

You may have to do some profiling to find out more about what's going on in your JVM.

Our demo application which runs on our web site has run non-stop for many months without memory problems so I don't think we have any memory links that would cause this problem.

We also experienced a PermGen memory error under Glassfish (which I'm led to believe is partially based on Tomcat).  The error seemed to be exacerbated by frequent autodeploys.  We tried bumping up our maxPermSize as well, but that only delayed the problem.  In the end we appear to have solved this by upgrading to Glassfish (v2.1), but in the case of Tomcat, you could try the AntiJarLocking settings.
