Digital Download link no longer appears for customers

The digital download link is no longer appearing after payment.  This use to work. 

The digitalDownload property of the productMgr is empty in AfterLoginBody.jsp.

How does   kkAppEng.getProductMgr().fetchDigitalDownloads()  populate the property?  It is not working for me anymore.  The status of the orders that it did not work with is 5 if that makes any difference. Others that I think worked originally all have statuses of 3 but the link is not available anymore.

I have "Max Number of Downloads" and "Number of days link is valid" set to -1, "Delete record on expiration" is set to false and "Download as an attachment" set to true.   I have the product type set to "Digital Download" and have values for both "File Path" and "Content Type".  I think I originally had "Number of days link is valid" set to 30.  Don't know what else I have changed.

I am running version 2.2.6.
