Configuration of KonaKart / Re: Konakart Admin App

You welcome guys.

Yup people can creat they own reports as required i guess, the more important one could be the migration tool.

Im currently using Navicat to edit MySQL databases and to create queries and reports. Its really gud and simple. Crystal reports would be gud as well.

Hi Poalo,

U welcome.

Well i havent started on my catalog yet, so it might be easy for me. Actually i have two databases setup at the moment. One for the new konakart version and one for the old and i just change the parameters in the properities file to switch between databases. In reality full online konakart users would want to keep they old databases as they have already spent a lot of time configuring and customizing it. If they run the new database script completely they will loose they cofigs such as Company address, name, payment methods enabled etc. Seting these up again will be a pain. So i would agree that an update script between version would be a better solution and more user friendly.

Oh and one more thing. On a first glance i have noted that the reports menu is missing altogether. The reports feature as in the php admin version would be helpful and would summarise a lot of bussiness analysis. Since konakart is targeted towards medium to large sized businesses a comprehensive reporting feature would be just great. Maybe you guys already have that on your ToDo list right :)

Nways evrything else seems to be working fine at the moment.

Thanks for the feedback Shaheem, and please keep it coming.

If you haven't spent time creating your own catalog yet, I advise to run the database script completely because we've removed unused config variables and added a few new order statuses. Also we've modified some existing config variables to place them in the correct groups. If this is a problem, let us know and we'll try and come up with an update script. From now on we'll always provide an update script between versions.

Configuration of KonaKart / Konakart Admin App
March 24, 2007, 07:21:56 am
First of all let me say congrats on the launch of the new admin app.

I had downloaded it and used it for a few hours today. Its great. I encountered a few hicups mainly coz i was using my old database and some of the new config parameters were not present like the product images was not displaying. I added the image base fields into the configuration table and it started to work.  :)

Overall great effort guys. This app was very much needed to go along with the konakart application.  8)

Will test it further and keep posting comments.

Maybe a reinstall of konakart would solve the problem. It just takes a few mins and the instruction are on the FAQ section http://www.konakart.com/installationfaq.php

Hey john,

Yeah im full on testing all feature and have already started creating my online store. This email thing has me banging my head for the past few days.

I have already tried the php.ini settings thats u suggested without success. This is the message that i get:

QuoteWarning: mail() [function.mail]: Mailserver rejected our "sendmail_from" setting in C:\webs\test\catalog\admin\includes\classes\email.php on line 520

Warning: Cannot modify header information - headers already sent by (output started at C:\webs\test\catalog\admin\includes\classes\email.php:520) in C:\webs\test\catalog\admin\includes\functions\general.php on line 22

..but this message is current, after i tried a few suggestions on the osCommerce support forum. I used to get another message that said i needed authentication to send emails. I assume this was because osCommerce maybe tries sending emails through smpt without a username and password or maybe its because im using localhost for testing.

Nways is there any other admin appz that u might suggest i could try out for comparasion purposes.

Thankx
Shaheem

Hi,

I have osCommerce Installed for back end admin purposes. For some reason im not able to send emails from the osCommerce Admin app. The settings provided by john in the previous posts works great with the konakart side.

I was wondering if anyone using osCommerce Admin are having this problem and have a solution..wud be great while we wait for the konakart admin app.

Thank you very much...it worked like a charm  ;D

Just for info sake for other new konakart members using the paypal module. You'll need to at least create 2 paypal sandbox accounts for testing. A sandbox account to receive payments (this could be the Premier or Business Account ) and a normal Personal Account.

You need to set up some configuration variables in the database. I've attached a script that you can edit and then use. There is a description for each variable so I won't go into any more detail here. Let me know if you have any doubts on the usage of any of the variables.

As for compilation, we all use the Eclipse IDE although I imagine NetBeans to be fine. Ensure that you include all of the Jars that we provide in WEB-INF\lib in the classpath.

Configuration of KonaKart / Installing Paypal
February 25, 2007, 11:25:51 am
Hi,

I'v tried installing the paypal payment method using the osCommerce Admin but for some reason the paypal payment method is not showing on the payment screen of the checkout process. I assume i need to do some configuring on the konakart side to make it work.

Some help would be really appreciated.

I am familar with Struts and JSPs and might just need a push in the right direction to get going.

Just another question while im still here. If i want to compile the konakart application, which IDE can i use? Can i use a particular IDE or will i have to complie it individually. I have used Struts in Netbeans.

Thankx.

Shaheem.
