Title: to define a group product
Post by: bharatkasodariya on October 15, 2014, 07:43:25 am
Is it possible to define group product. Like product with colour variants. product is defined individually with colour and  by grouping
on product list it will be displayed as a single product. on detail page customer can select desired colour for it.

I'm not 100% sure I understand you but....

It sounds like you should look at Product Options.   On our online demo at http://www.konakart.com/konakart/ (http://www.konakart.com/konakart/) the graphics cards are examples of products with options.  See http://www.konakart.com/konakart/Computer-Peripherals/Graphics-Cards/Matrox/Matrox-G200-MMS/MG200MMS/2_1.action (http://www.konakart.com/konakart/Computer-Peripherals/Graphics-Cards/Matrox/Matrox-G200-MMS/MG200MMS/2_1.action)

Thanks for the response.
Sorry Its not product option.
There are three individual products with different variants. For example Pattern X Shirt, Pattern Y Shirt and Pattern Z shirt. Now It can be combined as one group product. So group product will be kind of virtual product which will just group all three items.  when you open that product, we can display detail with variants dropdown, based on selected dropdown value main product can be displayed.
I think magento has that kind of feature.

Why can't you just define a shirt and have the patterns as options just as you would do for colour and size? Take a look at http://www.neronote.com/nn/en/home.3sp for the types of shirt configuration options you can define with KonaKart.

Those are products with different sku and we want to make different groups.

you can define relationships between products.  eg. you could define "in a group with".

When you use options, each option will define a different SKU otherwise you wouldn't be able to sell products with different sizes and colours.

I think there is no field in product detail screen for product option to specify sku. Does it allow different product description in option?
Here Each product has their own description and detail.

Looking for the solution like this which allows to define different products and then group it.

Yes of course there is. In the quantities tab you can define the quantities, the SKU and availability dates for each variation.

If you want to define other details such as descriptions then you can define seperate products and link them with product relationships so that when a user finds one of them you can easily display all variations.
