Title: Complete newbie to KonaKart, needing advice please
Post by: russell37uk on December 14, 2013, 08:52:11 pm
Hello everyone.

Sorry that my first post is for advice, i have had a look around but can't really find what i am looking for.

Basically i am not very tech minded, but i do know simple html, can use ftp, change permissions etc, so please use simple language when answering - thank you.

Can KonaKart be installed directly on a webserver (linux)?,  I have full root access to this server.
I ask this as unless i am missing something i has to be installed on my local PC?

Also if the latter that it needs to be installed on my local PC, i am using windows (8.1), and have no idea where the MySql databases etc are created/stored.

Finally (for now), If i have to install on my windows PC will it be compatable with my linux webserver?

Many thanks in advance for any advice you can give me.

Russell

Yes you can install KonaKart directly on Linux.

You don't have to install KonaKart on your local PC but that may be a better environment for you to use to set up the system as you require, then migrate that to the Linux server when you are ready.

KonaKart is a java-based solution so it's very advantageous to know java.
