Hi

Our client is offering to their clients a "value-card program", whereas such a "value-card" has a unique member ID
and hence we would like to customize the shop registration form that new customers can enter their unique member ID
in case they have one.

How can this be done?

The follow-up question then will be how can we make use of this, I mean let's a assume a customer has such a value card member ID and hence the prices on product will be lower than for customers which are not part of the value card program? Any pointers are very much appreciated :-)

Thanks

Michael

The unique member id can be saved in a customer custom field. Our demo store actually shows how to do that.

To get a discount you could place all customers with a value-card within a particular customer group which picks up a different price or promotion. Otherwise you could create a promotion and attach coupons to it where each coupon code is equivalent to the value card id for a customer. In this way different customers could get different discounts based on the promotion. Using promotions gives you the power to create intelligent discounts based on many other factors such as manufacturers, category, product and customer tags.

You mean the demo store which is part of the community edition? Or where exactly can such a customer field be configured and how can I add such users to a specific group?

Thanks

Michael
